DR JACQUES DU TOIT



Dr ALJ (Jacques) du Toit is a South African orthopaedic surgeon who obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) from the University of the Free State in 2007. During his undergraduate medical training, he was awarded the Horace Wells Medal and the Janssen-Cilag Prize for Best Final-Year Medical Student in Anaesthetics, recognising academic excellence and clinical aptitude. He completed his specialist orthopaedic training and, in 2016, qualified as a Fellow of the College of Orthopaedic Surgeons of South Africa (FC Orth SA). In the same year, he was awarded a Master of Medicine (MMed) in Orthopaedic Surgery from the University of the Free State, further consolidating his expertise in orthopaedic surgery.

 

INTERNATIONAL TEACHING, FACULTY INVOLVEMENT & SPECIALIST COLLABORATION:
Dr Jacques du Toit maintains active involvement in national and international orthopaedic education, regularly attending and contributing to conferences covering orthopaedic oncology, limb reconstruction, robotic surgery, and complex knee and hip revision arthroplasty.

He frequently serves as faculty, presenter, and facilitator at both local and international meetings, with a particular focus on revision joint replacement surgery and prosthetic joint infection (PJI) management. In addition, Dr du Toit acts as an implant consultant surgeon, providing teaching, mentorship, and surgical assistance to colleagues nationally and internationally in cases involving infected and technically complex joint revision arthroplasty.
